Capital credit refunds on the way to members
At Tipmont REMC, every member is an owner of the business – that’s the cooperative difference. As your local electric cooperative, Tipmont REMC exists to do the right thing for our members, not to make a profit. One of the benefits of being a member-owner is receiving capital credits.

Capital credits represent each member’s ownership of the cooperative. They are the margins credited (or allocated) to the members based on the amount of their electric purchases. Tipmont REMC uses the margins to operate the business and any excess margins are returned to members as capital credit refunds.
Your Board of Directors recently approved a capital credit refund of $600,000. If you had electric service during 1981, a credit for your share is on its way!
Members with current electric accounts will either receive a check (if the refund is $15 or more) or a bill credit (if the refund is less than $15). Members without a current electric account will receive a check for refunds of $15 or more. Capital credit refunds as bill credits will appear on the November 22, November 29, December 8, and December 15, 2011, bills. Capital credit refund checks will be mailed December 1, 2011.
